Toronto legal community and supporters serve 60,000 meals annually at Osgoode Hall

It was a welcome word on the street four years ago that introduced Scott Whiteman and Nadine Herman to the Lawyers Feed the Hungry Program in Toronto.  “It’s known as the best place for food, it's really organized and you know you are going to be safe,” said 43-year-old Mr. Whiteman and his girlfriend Nadine Herman.

After injuring his hand in a printing press a number of years ago, Mr. Whiteman gets odd jobs when he can.  The meal program at Osgoode Hall, he says, is welcome respite while living at short-term shelter housing following eviction from his apartment in late 2008.

Founded in 1998 by Toronto lawyer Martin Teplitsky and a group of family and colleagues, the Toronto Lawyers Feed the Hungry Program is one of Toronto’s year-round community meal programs for residents in need.
